At present, the Institute successfully develops the following studies: - Synthesis of ion-exchange, oxidation-reduction, selective sorbents and membranes, polyfunctional polymers and constructional materials on the basis of fundamental investigation of catalytic polycondensation, polymerisation, chemical modification, - Study of the processes of coupled oxidation reaction and hydrocarbon oxidative ammonolysis, - Research in the sphere of thin organic synthesis, stereochemistry, information analysis of the heterocyclic saturated compounds containing spatially isomeric nitrogen, phosphorus and selenium, including acetylene and polyacetylene derivatives with the purpose of making original domestic medicaments with analgesic, local anaesthetic, anticancer, antituberculous, hypotensive, antiglaucoma activity, study of correlation of their chemical, physical and biological features with space pattern, - Development of progressive technologies to utilise the chemistry industry’s man-caused raw materials by transforming them into inorganic materials, including environmentally appropriate fertilisers, composite and biological materials, corrosion inhibitors to protect metal during oil transportation, reagents for extraction of precious metals, and - Chemical and analytical works on quantitative assessment of soil and water contamination, chemical and ecological monitoring of the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
